The Emergency Fund reimburses you up to $3,000/year in the event of an unexpected, life-threatening medical situation. The fund covers any qualified emergency, even if it relates to a pre-existing condition.

So what qualifies an emergency? The above definition of emergency mentions both "unexpected" and "life-threatening." In order to qualify for reimbursement, your issue must meet both of these criteria, meaning we can't provide coverage for things that are planned and expected (like scheduled surgeries) nor things that aren't life-threatening (like deworming).

  • For example, if your pet has cancer and has a scheduled amputation appointment, that would not be covered by the Emergency Fund. However, if your pet has cancer and experiences a sudden collapse and needs immediate care, that would be covered by the Emergency Fund.

Every medical case is unique and each Emergency Fund Application will be reviewed with all its relevant information and context by our Medical Review Team.
